CDC Recommends Three COVID Tests for Americans Traveling Abroad

Americans planning to travel out of the country should get a total of three COVID-19 tests before and after their flights, according to updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The agency recommends a test 1-3 days before the flight, and a test 3-5 days after the flight, as well as isolating for 7 days, CBS News reported.

The CDC advises travelers to stay home for the full week even after testing negative and increasing their isolation to 14 days if not getting tested.

A third test should be done 1-3 days before returning.

The CDC says that all travelers should avoid flying while awaiting test results, CBS News reported.

Even though the agency has urged Americans not to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday, millions are expected to drive or fly in the highest numbers since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Coronavirus Outbreak Hits World's Largest Rubber Glove Maker

The world's largest maker of rubber gloves expects that deliveries will be delayed two-to-four-weeks after more than 2,400 of its workers tested positive for COVID-19.

Malaysia's Top Glove Corp. said Tuesday that production at 16 factories in the country has been stopped since Nov. 17 to screen workers, with its other 12 facilities operating at much reduced capacities, CBS News reported.

"We expect delays in some deliveries by about two to four weeks, as well as a longer lead time for orders, and estimate a possible 3% impact on projected annual sales for financial year 2021," Top Glove said in a statement.

The company says it makes about 90 billion rubber gloves a year -- about one quarter of the world's supply -- and ships its products to 195 countries, CBS News reported.
