Question: Bontril vs Phentermine

 nae9 - Tue Feb 15, 2005 12:45 am

How does Bontril differ from Phentermine? Which one would be more effective for suppressing the appetite? Years ago my Dr had prescribed phentermine for me, but I was wondering if Bontril would be different? Thank you for your input.

User avatar Hi nae9,
Both Bontril and Phentermine, are siimilar to an amphetamine. They stimulate the your central nervous system increasing blood pressure and heart rate. They are used as short term treatments. The specific differences that I'm aware of are Phentermine is usually taken once or twice a day before a meal on an empty stomach. Bontril is usually taken once a day (for the sustained release formula) or two to three times daily (for the immediate-release formula) before meals on an empty stomach. Both have exactly the same side effects, warnings etc.
Sincerely,
Rntdj
