Question: Urination while under influence of marijuana

 ljamf - Sun May 17, 2009 9:30 pm

Hi doc,
I have experienced a pronounced increase in the time it takes me to urinate while under the influence of marijuana. After speaking with friends I found that most, yet not all experienced similar trends. And before you chalk this up to psychological effects I can tell you that I have timed a small sample of bathroom visits both on weed and off - a normal session lasting about 20-30 seconds and a stoned session lasting generally around 1:00 - 1:30. I have not been able to account for any changes in stream velocity.

Can someone please help me shed some light on this subject?

User avatar Hi,
Increased urinary frequency and urinary retention are well known side effects of marijuana.Urinary bladder hypomotility may be responsible for the slowing of urinary stream.
